All members are welcome to attend.

New Facilities on the EBA Website

Administrators Announcements No Comments

The EBA website, now back at www.emsworth.org.uk, has had some new features added.

You now have the facility to post for yourself items in the ‘Members News’ section. This will appear listed as ‘latest news’ at the top of the right hand column on nearly all pages of the site. Items appear in date order with the most recent at the top so if you keep on posting new items you will always be seen. Up to 10 posts will be listed, the rest will still be available in an archive.

To take advantage of this facility you need to be registered as a contributor to the site. Please ask and I will register you. For security reasons I have decided not to allow members to register themselves. When you register I will give you some guidelines on how easy it is to post items on this website. Basically if you can send an email you can post on this site!

The EBA site needs your incoming links

In order to boost its rank in search engines such as Google and help people find member’s businesses on the web, we need a link from your site to ours. Please therefore insert this at a suitable place on your site. We would appreciate it if you displayed our logo as well.

Here is the link http://www.emsworth.org.uk and here is a link to the logo http://www.emsworth.org.uk/images/MemberLogo100.gif

If because of company policy you don’t wish to display the logo please include the link with any relevant text you like. For example “Xxxx financial services is a member of the Emsworth Business Association this is less noticeable to human eyes but the search engines find it anyway.

Your own Page in the EBA directory

As you may know by now your own web page on the EBA site can be tailored to your needs and can include pictures and a link to your own site. Please check your entry. To find your business in the ‘directory of members‘ use any of the methods shown below.

If there are any errors please email me as soon as possible with your correction. For security reasons you cannot edit this page yourself.

Main features of the directory of members:

  1. The members database is now fully searchable. If you have products and services which people will be looking for on-line, they can be added to your entry. The search box will then take people straight to it. (See ‘adding to your page’ below).
  2. All members are listed alphabetically by business name in the alphabetical list of members.  If you trade under different names for different services you can appear several times on this list. Each link will go to your single members page.
  3. The list of members by business type is designed to let people find the product or service they want. Please check under each category which applies to your business. If you are not included let me know and you will be added to the category. Your business can be listed under as many categories as you like. If the category does not exist we can create it for you.

Your website and Links

If you have notified the EBA that you have a website I will have put a link to this on your page. Please test this link and make sure it goes to the site and page you want.

Adding to Your Page

Picture and/or Logo

If there was a picture of your premises on the old EBA site this has been transferred to the new one. Some of these pictures are of mediocre quality and need replacing. For many businesses it would be more appropriate to use a logo or an interior shot. If you would like your picture changed please send me one and I will replace it.

Any digital pictures of your premises, logo and or key product would be appropriate. The picture goes at the top of your page on the right beside your details. I normally link this picture to your website if you have one.

You many have an additional picture if you wish - perhaps depicting a special offer or one of your products. This will appear below the ‘Products and/or Services’ heading with the text.

Your page can contain any text you wish subject to the usual rules of decency. Please send your write up to me. First please read the notes below:

  • The ‘Products or Services’ heading can be edited to say ‘products‘, ‘services‘ or anything else you like.
  • Beneath this will appear a description of your business. 200 words about right to fit on most screens, anything longer is better referred to your own site. You may send this to me as a  ‘Word’ document or a simple email.
  • Search Friendly Content To be most effective name your key products in the text, mentioning anything your customers would be likely to search for. To makes your ‘keywords’ more acceptable to internet search engines like Google please write your text to work them into meaningful sentences. For an example of this see Southern Tyres page.

Map

If you wish we can inset a web link to Multi-Map marking your address. Please advise if you would like this done.

Email addresses

We have ceased putting email addresses automatically on the site as it makes them vulnerable to spam. Please indicate if you want your email displayed. If you have your own site, I recommend a link to your contact page and using a web form for responses.

Please send your information as soon as you can and help your business whilst helping this make a real difference for all businesses in Emsworth.

Kind Regards

Richard Jannaway

Sally Taylor opens new Emsworth Co-op

Members News No Comments

co-opopen.jpg

Popular TV presenter Sally Taylor joined staff and customers at Emsworth Co-op for the unveiling of their new community supermarket on Wednesday 29 October.

The refurbishment of the existing store has provided many new additions and improvements. Including a fresh, bright brand format along the lines of the new Co-op opened recently at Hawthorn Road, Bognor Regis, together with a more spacious sales area.

Food to Go

The store has introduced a new concept for Southern Co-operatives, with its ‘Food to Go’ range.  Customers will be able to choose from freshly prepared hot meals such as a ‘roast of the day’, filled baguettes and healthy salads.

Local Produce

Following the popularity of Southern Co-operatives’ ‘Local Flavours’ selection in its Isle of Wight stores, a new range of locally produced goods from Hampshire and West Sussex has also been sourced and introduced at Emsworth. The products include handmade cakes, pies using locally sourced organic meat, sausages from Sussex and a wide selection of local cheeses.

Community Support Scheme

Phil Ponsonby, Chief Operating Officer Food Retail and Services at Southern Co-operatives, said:

“We are also delighted to be relaunching our Community Support Card scheme. This has proved very popular with customers as a means of raising significant donations for local organisations.

“The scheme operates through customers having their special cards swiped at point of purchase. For every £1 spent, the Co-op donates 3p to the ‘pot’. Nominations are invited from customers for the local cause they most want to see benefiting from the money raised over the forthcoming year. The last recipients were the Emsworth Responders who received a cheque from us for £4,800 in 2007.
